London Fashion Week AW 12 // Pringle of Scotland

I was really happy that I got invited to the Pringle of Scotland show at LFW, since I've been a big fan of Alistair Carr's creations since quite some time.
The beautiful AW 12 collection was inspired by the designers return to England after a few years abroad, which brought up memories of his youth. Carr himself says: “Behind this collection is a girl I used to know at school, grown out of her teenage angst into a sophisticated woman, but with just a hint of that rebellious past remaining” – his inspiration showed in the integral box pleats which remind of school skirts.
A typical Pringle of Scotland piece is the twinset which appeared in the collection as well several times.
I adored the simplicity of the collection, it was kind of tomboy-ish, yet really chic and feminine and super appropriate for the colder months containing thick coats and leather jackets, combined with refined knitwear and slim pants of the aforementioned skirts.
And the shoes, which were designed by Chrissie Morris with shoe jewellery by Husam El Odeh, were super stunning
By the way, you can see Antonia Wesseloh on the first picture, who is a model-shootingstar from Germany who had her breakthrough because she was the face of the previous Prada campaign and who I know slightly – I’m sure she’s a future supermodel :)

Streetstyles - London Fashion Week AW 12

Apart from the amazing shows, I love London Fashion Week for it's Street Styles: you'll find everything from classy head to toe designer looks to laid back Vintage outfits to cool high-street ensembles to totally crazy and eccentric styles. As a London Fashion Week reporter for Veet, I was always on the hunt for the coolest outfits and this post shows an assortment of my faves. Of course, since Veet is a cosmetic brand which specifies on making your legs look good, I watched out for girls with bare legs. Beforehand I wouldn't have expected to find a lot of bare legged girls - I mean, it's February - but I was surprised. Apparently british girls don't mind freezing :D
I hope you enjoy the following looks as much as I did!
(1) I was so happy to have met my all time favourite blogger Sandra Hagelstam from 5inchandup in front of Somerset House and I love the picture I took of her. She always looks amazing and she was super sweet :) (2) some girl in front of the Burberry show dressed, of course, head-to-toe in Burberry Prorsum (3) amazing layering! (4) this is such a typicial model-off-duty outfit (5-6) super classy and chic looks in front of the Pringle of Scotland show (7) one of my favourite singers Jade Williams aka. Sunday Girl leaving the Burberry show - she has the most amazing style, really british but with a twist - I love her! (8) beautiful Christine Centenera looking fierce (9) the south-korean girl band Girls Generation in front of Burberry looking like cute Barbie dolls in their amazing Burberry Prorsum outfits, I'm seriously craving that green dress, which was one of my fave pieces of the SS 12 collection (10) Leigh Lezark rocking that new amazing Mulberry bag and killer heels in front of Burberry Prorsum, sorry for the super blurry pic, but I really wanted to share her look with you (11) another head-to-toe Burberry Prorsum outfit (12) blogger Columbine Smille looking amazing in those ripped Acne jeans and my dream Alexander Wang heels (13) busy girl in a cute Topshop skirt

all pictures are mine (two shot by my sister), please ask in case you'd like to use them

The Oscars 2012 - What I'd wear

Tonight's the night of the 84th Academy Awards and I'm so excited! As you might know I love love love the oscars and stay up all night every year to watch the show, I can't wait to see who wins and - of course - the dresses!
Now, I asked myself: What would I wear if I was lucky enough to attend the Academy Awards? So I klicked through the Spring/Summer RTW and Couture shows and chose my favourite dresses.
Christian Dior Haute Couture / Elie Saab Haute Couture
 Elie Saab Haute Couture
 Elie Saab Haute Couture
Valentino Haute Couture / Versace Haute Couture
 Christian Dior RTW
Christian Dior RTW / Erdem RTW
Zac Posen RTW

I adore all the above dresses so much, it must be hard as a Hollywood star, having to choose from so many amazing gowns ;) I think in the end I'd go for the Christian Dior Haute Couture dress (with a non-see-through skirt underneath though), the long-sleeve white Elie Saab on the second collage, the simple white Valentino, the white Christian Dior RTW Frida is rocking or the left stunning Zac Posen.
Do you like my choices? Let's see if one of the guests is going to show up in one of these gowns :)

Join me for an oscars twitter session tonight :) @cailinbird

Souvenir from London

I was looking for a new wallet since aaaaages and ages and saved up some money for it, because I only had a completely wrecked and old one for quite some time, but I wanted a qualitative, timeless and practical one and never seemed to find the perfect one. On Tuesday when I was waiting for my flight at London Heathrow I still had a lot of time so I wandered around some stores. When I walked into the Mulberry store it happened: I saw the wallet I was waiting for: black, big enough to fit all of my cards and even my phone in it, it can be used as a clutch bag and is simple, but still completely and utterly beautiful. It's from the SS 12 collection which had just hit stores a few days ago. When the Sales Assistant took it out of the vitrine and I held it in my hands I just knew that I had to have it. Those cute ruffles at the edge and around the trademark Mulberry buckle are just too cute for words ♥ And the name is "Cookie" - how sweet ist that? :)
What made my purchase even better: the super cute bag which contained a box for the wallet, six postcards with the pictures from the SS lookbook with Frida and Lindsey on them, a booklet with pictures of the SS pieces and super cute stickers - and that I saved 50 Pounds because I bought it in the duty-free area.
Weird how happy shopping can make me sometimes :) Best souvenir ever!

London Fashion Week AW 12 // Christian Blanken

I LOVED Christian Blanken AW 12! As you can see quite well on the pictures it was rather simple, held in black, white and cream with a pop of colour or silver here and there, but the cuts, fabrics and the styling was so perfect that the collection really stayed in my mind. Especially those stunning silver and orange pants are on my imaginary wishlist, but actually, I think I'd wear the entire collection! Thumbs up!

I can make the future shine so bright and I can make right now alright

Waah I am so in love with my new jeans and KILLER heels I picked up at the UO Oxford Street store on my last day in London. I was invited to have a look around the store and to pick three pieces from the current collection, so thanks a lot to the lovely UO UK Pr! I'll post a few pictures of the beautiful store in a few days.
Also, stay tuned for a lot more LFW posts and a LFW x Veet Giveaway!

London Fashion Week AW 12 // Pam Hogg

Pam Hogg was one of those crazy, super fun, unwearable, London-ish shows - get the idea?
It started off with several silver and red space-like overalls which reminded me of Barbarella and continued with see through overalls with only a hint of black fabric or ribbons so that the models weren't entirely naked. Judging from what I saw on the runway it's not surprising that Lady Gaga, Jessie J and Rihanna are amongst her costumers: exciting, extravagant and eccentric looks which are definitely more suitable for the stage than the street :D
The show ended with two stunning, rose coloured dresses which you can see on the third and fourth pictures and the closing outfit which basically only consisted of red ribbons making the model look like a present without gift wrapping as my sister described it during the show :D
I love attending shows which are provoking and different and Pam Hogg's was one of them for sure, I really enjoyed it.
